For founders

Find out whether people want it. Before you spend a year building it.

Ideas are rarely killed by a bad build, and whether anybody wants this one is knowable in a couple of weeks for the price of a page.

Evidence you can act on by Friday

A page beats a survey

People are generous in conversation and honest with their attention. A live page asks a stranger for an email address or a click, which costs them something small and real, and that small real cost is what makes the answer worth having.

Your own address, your own look

The page goes out on a web address you choose, in the colors and type you picked in setup, so the link you share does not announce itself as an experiment. Signups collect in one place, and you can download them or mirror them into a spreadsheet in your own Drive.

Research is yours to choose

Nothing long or expensive starts on its own the moment you describe an idea. Research is a card you press when you want the market read sitting behind the page, and it is free the first time on your account, so you decide after reading real research about your own idea rather than before.

From an idea to a real signal

Four steps, and none of them is building the product

Setup asks for what only you know and generates the rest. The page can be live the same day you sign up, which means the slow part is getting the right strangers to look at it.

  1. 1

Say what you are selling, and who for

One short intake: the name, a paragraph on what it does, who buys it, and what the offer is.

  2. 2

Keep a look, or change it

Three directions drawn on a real post carrying your own name, one already chosen, kept in a single press.

  3. 3

    Publish the page

The page is written from what you told us and goes on the web at the address you picked, when you press publish.

  4. 4

    Read what people actually did

Visits, signups, and the share of one that became the other, read against a number you set before you shared the link.

What we can show you, and what we will not

There are no customer logos on this page and no count of founders served. The ones worth showing would belong to somebody else, and we do not have their permission to use them yet, so the space stays empty rather than being filled with a number nobody can check. What we can show you is the work itself, at full length, before you pay for any of it.

A finished document, in full

Read a complete validation report made the same way yours will be, including the parts that argue against the idea.

Read the sample report

The method, written out

The whole test is documented on this site for free, including how to pick a pass mark and how to tell honest traffic from friends being kind. You could run it by hand.

Questions founders ask first

Do I have to build the product to test it?

No. That is the reason to run the test at all. You publish a page that describes the offer as though it were ready, send honest traffic to it, and count the people who take a real action. You keep it honest by never charging for something that does not exist yet: a click to buy tells you what you needed to know, and the page then offers the person a place in line instead of a payment form.

Is the page built from research?

Only if you choose research. The page is written from what you tell us about the offer and the buyer, which is enough to publish and test. Adding research puts cited customer language and market evidence behind it from the start, and one regenerate of the page is part of that choice rather than a second charge afterward.

How many visitors do I need before the result means anything?

There is no single number, and anybody quoting one without knowing your price or your buyer is guessing. A few hundred visitors from a place your real customer already spends time tell you more than ten thousand random clicks, and the discipline that matters more than the figure is writing down your pass mark before you publish. The guide on running a fake door test covers how to pick that number and how to read a weak result without explaining it away.

What does it cost?

The demand test runs on Starter, at $55 a month, with 600 credits a month for research, documents and the rest of the workspace. There is a 14 day money back guarantee on the monthly plans. If all you came for is posting every week, that is the Social plan at $12 a year instead, and you can add the rest whenever you want it.

What happens to my page if I stop paying?

It stays online. A lapsed account keeps its published pages up on 1 GB of traffic a month with a small LaunchValid line on them, and that line goes as soon as you are paying again. Scheduling stops while an account is lapsed and anything already queued waits rather than publishing. A refund is a different thing: a refund ends access the same day and takes published pages down with it.

Can I see the quality of the work before I pay for it?

Yes, at full length. A complete validation report, an investor memo, a business plan and the rest are published as worked samples on this site, each one made the same way yours will be. Read one before you decide.

Put the offer in front of people this week.

Tell us what you are selling and who for, and your page can be live at your own address the same day. The result is a number you set the bar for yourself.
