Bring your own research

Bring the work you have already done. You are not starting from scratch.

What it is

Import research you already have by pasting your notes, uploading a text file, or pulling a document straight from Google Drive. Drive imports cover Docs, Slides, Sheets, and text files. LaunchValid maps the content to the right research sections and merges it in.

Why it matters

You should not start from scratch. Your interviews, competitor notes, and early plans are valuable. Importing them makes the workspace yours from day one and improves everything generated afterward.

How it works

Paste your text, upload a text file (.txt, .md, .csv), or pick a file from Google Drive. Review the suggested mapping to sections and confirm what to merge. Your content becomes part of the living research and is available to the notebook and every downstream document. Importing documents is available on Pro and Business.

What it does not take yet

PDF and Word files are not read directly. Open the file, copy the text, and paste it in. A Google Doc imports as it is, so a document already in Drive needs no copying.

Common questions

Can I upload a PDF or a Word file?

Not yet. Open the file, copy the text, and paste it in. A Google Doc you own imports straight from Drive, so a document already in your own Drive needs no copying.

What can I bring in?

Pasted text, a text file such as .txt, .md or .csv, or a document from Google Drive. Drive imports cover Docs, Slides, Sheets, and text files. Importing is available on Pro and Business.

What happens to a long document?

Text you paste or upload is split into parts automatically, and each part is mapped on its own, so you do not have to break it up yourself. A document pulled from Google Drive is not split: if it runs very long we import what fits and tell you where it stopped.

Does importing replace my research?

Nothing changes until you review the suggested mapping and pick what to merge. Your material is then treated as claims to check rather than as finished text: each section you pick is researched again against independent sources and rewritten, so your work is built on rather than copied in.
