Research, when you choose it

Research is a decision you make, not a bill that arrives with your account.

What changed, and why

Research used to start itself the moment you described an idea, on every account, whether or not that was what you came for. Plenty of people arrive to publish rather than to investigate, and starting a long, expensive piece of work for them was doing something to them rather than for them. So research is now a thing you choose, from a card that tells you what it covers and roughly how long it runs before you press anything.

What it covers, named before you press

Fifteen topics around your idea: your business brief, market and demand, your customer, your competitors, the offer that sets you apart, how you make money, what it costs to run, compliance, legal, tax, how you reach customers, what your first version is, the risks, the financials, and a plan for validating the whole thing. Every claim in every section is labeled a sourced fact or an assumption you still have to test, with citations you can click and check.

Free the first time on your account

Your first research run costs nothing, once, per account. Not once per project: once, on the account, which is the honest way to say it and the way the card says it. It is there so that deciding whether this is worth paying for is a decision you make after reading real research about your own idea rather than before.

Priced in plain sight after that

On later projects it is priced in credits, with the quality choice and its cost on the button before you press it. You pick how deep to go, the price follows your choice, and the figure on the button is a ceiling: you are charged that or less. No quality is locked behind a plan, because the depth you need is your call rather than your plan's.

It is what opens the rest of your workspace

Everything downstream reads from research, which is why running it unlocks the rest: your action plan, your product and engineering documents, your prototype, your decks, your data room and your investor pack all go from written out of what you told us to written out of cited evidence. Until it has run, those entries say plainly that research opens them, worded as something you have not asked for yet rather than as a door being held shut.

Offered twice, a gate in neither place

You meet it once inside setup, as an option on the questions step for anybody who already knows they want it, off until you turn it on. Choosing it there does not slow anything down: the next screen is the one you would have reached anyway, and the research runs behind the rest of setup while the screen tells you what it is finding. You meet it again afterward as a card on your workspace, which stays there for as long as you have not used it. Skipping it changes nothing about how fast the rest arrives.

Your page catches up, and that rewrite is included

A demand page written before research states what you told us and invents nothing beyond it, which is accurate but thin on persuasion: it cannot quote a market it has not read. When research finishes, the page offers to catch up, and rewrites itself with the cited customer language, the competitor contrasts and the market numbers the fifteen sections found. That first rewrite is part of what the research cost, not a second charge waiting behind the promise.

One edit, one notice

Research feeding everything else means one change ripples a long way. When your own edits leave sections behind, you get one notice saying your research is catching up with your edit, rather than fifteen separate alarms for one action. What to rebuild after that stays your choice, priced like any other work.

Common questions

Is research really free the first time?

Yes, once per account. It is free the first time you run it, not free on every new project, and the card says so in those words because those are two very different promises.

What does it cost after that?

Credits, at the quality you choose, with the price on the button before you press. The figure quoted is a ceiling, so you are charged that or less, and no quality is locked to a plan.

What can I do before I run it?

Everything that does not read from research: compose pictures with your own words on them, schedule posts, and your own page. The parts that do read from research say so, and one press is all that stands between you and them.

How long does it take?

The card gives you an honest estimate before you press, and the screen reports real findings while it runs rather than showing you an invented progress bar. You can close the tab; it carries on without you.

I already have research of my own. Does that help?

Yes. Bring it in by pasting your notes or pulling a document from Google Drive, and it is mapped into the right sections. Your material is treated as claims to check rather than as finished text, so it is built on rather than copied in.

What if my balance does not cover it?

You are told plainly, and given the two real ways on, buying credits or moving to a plan that includes more, each with its price shown. Nothing half starts and nothing is charged.
